About LCP
L'il Critters is a NAEYC accredited facility that has been in operation since 1992. It was founded and is owned by Gay Ann Lametta Cavanagh. She has been in the early childhood field since 1978. Taking care of, and educating children has been a passion of Gay's her entire life. All three of her daughters have watched her, learned from her and all now work for her.
L'il Critters is staffed with teachers who are qualified according to the NAEYC and State of Connecticut standards. The facility accommodates up to 84 children per day, 28 of those slots are for children under the age of three.
L'il Critters is open all year, with the exception of three weeks vacation and some holidays.
Program Curriculum
The curriculum at L'il Critters is based upon the philosophy that children learn through day-to-day meaningful experiences. Our curriculum is based on "Teaching Strategies" from the Creative Curriculum, which is directly aligned with the Connecticut Frameworks for Preschool, as well as the "Project Approach". Teachers are allowed to modify the curriculum to make it developmentally appropriate for their specific group of children. Our goal is to help your children become enthusiastic learners.
